Special tidal opportunity. This is a rare and much treasured adventure. Rock Hop below the waterline and explore the caves. This is demanding requiring above average balance and stamina, and a little bit of courage. A unique and fun way to explore the Dublin Bay UNESCO Biosphere.
Starting from the Tourism Kiosk at Howth Harbour, moving swiftly cross country to the cliffs, where the action is at low tide. Be ready for 8 miles/12 kms off road and off trail. We will focus on the rocks and pools below the waterline. Quite demanding and very rewarding. We will scamper swiftly through woodlands and the exquisite Rhododendron Gardens, echoing the jungles of Siam. Climb to HG Wells's most beautiful view in the world and clear your mind with salty air, and tropical aromas. Passing through vivid yellow gorse and purple heathlands we head down to the sea and the cliffs.
The real high comes from the group, roving through enchanting territory from one awe-inspiring place to the next and then sharing the special atmosphere and terrain exposed when the tide retreats.
I recommend cross trainers, boots, or stout shoes. Keep an eye on the weather and think about a light waterproof. Water and a snack wouldn't hurt either.
Holiday Hack ! Get the 31 or 31/a bus from Talbot street in the city centre, sit up stairs, up front or on the right hand side and treat yourself to a coastal tour and intimate review of Dublin as you make your way out to join us in Howth.
